Update: EC's & OC - Prayer Needed
In our previous UPDATE we shared about the two-week English Club (EC) Steve helped with in Iasi, ROMANIA from Monday 18 March through Friday 29 March. During that same time frame, our colleague Debbie Morlock was helping CRU Staff Tommy & Dana Dove do one-week EC's in Cluj-Napoca & Timisoara, ROMANIA. Below is Debbie's report. As you read it and look at the photos can you pray that GOD will work in the mind & heart of each student who attended one of our four March 2024 English Clubs - Cluj, Iasi, L'Viv & Timisoara. Thanks so much.
Among the 25 or so participants in Cluj were Anca & Bianca who are planning to serve as Student Volunteers on our Ocean City (OC24) summer project team. In addition there were some we had met previously as Work & Travel students in Ocean City, MD (Alexandra, Andra, Emil, Julian, Marta & Moni). Andra surprised Debbie with some spiritual comments during class. She has been reading the daily devotional Deb gave her in OC, "Jesus Calling". There were some great classroom discussions as well as good participation during after class food & games and a couple morning coffee meetings. Many of the students attended a hike together the following weekend. The 3 American helpers were young and made great connections with students.
In Timisoara there were 25-30 each night. A few met in the afternoon for ice cream or early dinner. There were meaningful discussions around the miracles and parables of Jesus. Students were eager to stay together even past midnight playing games and forming relationships, and many came out for an excursion Saturday morning. Everyone seemed to have a great time.
Laurentiu wrote this after the first night and brought new friends every night, "I want to thank you all for this wonderful evening, you are all beautiful and amazing people, see you tomorrow " Many are continuing to meet up for games & activities, and some signed up for a follow up Alpha course which is starting soon. Good connections were made between CRU Volunteer Petrica and his team, the American missionaries who helped out, and some Christian students we knew from OC. Everyone is enthusiastic and excited about the possibility of having another EC in the fall. Three of the students are hoping to be in OC in 2025.
